Exto Partners is a diversified private investment firm. We invest in and work with both emerging and established companies to achieve their potential.
We build high performance global businesses that focus on innovation, transform established
industries and challenge existing market leaders to drive value for shareholders.
Exto Partners has been operating for over 10 years and has a diversified investment portfolio.
Exto Partners specialises in providing both expansion and venture capital.
We have a portfolio of investments across a broad range of industries, including: education, industrial safety, retail, health, clean tech, mining services and online marketplaces.
Unlike other private equity and venture capital firms, we do not subscribe to the theory of focusing on total portfolio returns. We do not assume some investments will fail and hope the poor performance will be outweighed by one or two big successes.
Exto Partners concentrates on building core value in each of its portfolio companies rather than relying on financial engineering. We establish innovative, sustainable and high growth business strategies and invest heavily in both people and systems to enable each company to successfully execute on the strategy.
We invest in private Australian companies and take a medium term view on business performance. We take meaningful equity positions (30%+) and deliver hands on collaborative engagement with founders, boards and management.
We look for the following characteristics in our investments:
- Strong management teams with a clear strategic plan
- Operate in high growth global industries
- Great products with a global market opportunity
- Clear and achievable pathway to exit
- Technology based solutions that are differentiated and defensible
In the venture space we invest in companies with validated product market fit and identified exit opportunity.
In the private equity space we invest in profitable companies that require capital to:
- Facilitate expansion
- Development of new products and markets
- Fund acquisitions
- Facilitate succession planning
The Sydney-based company was founded in 2003 by Peter Hammond and Will Deane when they met working in New York. Both shared a passion for business and a desire to build high performance Australian businesses with global potential.
